{"id":5,"date":"2015-06-24T12:47:54","date_gmt":"2015-06-24T11:47:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.comesinging.org.uk\/?page_id=5"},"modified":"2026-05-11T14:25:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T13:25:09","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.comesinging.org.uk\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Come Singing For People Of All Ages With Memory Loss<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Everyone who has ever sung Happy Birthday, joined in a football chant, or sung a Christmas carol knows that singing makes you feel good!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you have dementia, singing may also be something you can still do really well and with as much enjoyment as ever.<\/p>\n<p>Come Singing groups offer a welcome break from the isolation which dementia can bring. You&#8217;ll find great songs of all kinds \u2013 favourites from the musicals, standards, folk and traditional \u2013 and musical activities to stimulate and make you feel alive.<\/p>\n<p>Sessions are relaxed, sociable and a bit anarchic \u2013 not like school or hymn practice! Simply singing with other people is a great boost to self-confidence and well-being.<\/p>\n<p>Groups are not just for those of us with dementia: family and carers are very welcome, and there are volunteers on hand to provide support.<\/p>\n<p>All the groups are run under the auspices of a recognised charity, health provider and Norfolk Library Service.<\/p>\n<p>Music is a gift beyond words, but if we live with dementia it can also be a vital lifeline to happiness.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><b>This is the beginning of Come Singing\u2019s summer adventure!\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">Those of you who were singing with us on Tuesday 14<span class=\"s1\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span> April will know that the Millennium Library is having a big makeover in the next few months.\u00a0 This means that arrangements for singing will be different for a while, but the library has been amazingly kind in hiring <b>The Gallery in the Forum<\/b> for us as often as it can, so that we can sing in the same familiar building.\u00a0 The Gallery is on the left as you come in, just before the BBC and the loos. The time will be a bit later &#8211; 11.30 &#8211; 12.30 &#8211; and the pattern of dates not always the 2nd and 4th Tuesday, but we&#8217;ll remind you before each session.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We are very grateful to the library for going to such lengths to help us keep singing! <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><b>****Earlham Library singing will be as normal on Friday April 17<\/b><span class=\"s1\"><b><sup>th<\/sup><\/b><\/span><b>, May 15<\/b><span class=\"s1\"><b><sup>th<\/sup><\/b><\/span><b> and June 19<\/b><span class=\"s1\"><b><sup>th<\/sup><\/b><\/span><b> at 11.15.<\/b> <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">If you have any questions, do please email or ring me on <b>01603 452404<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">So\u2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>April<\/b><b><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The big move happens on April 27th and 28th, so we&#8217;ll need to <span class=\"s3\">cancel our late April session<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>May\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Our next chance to meet and sing will be at the\u00a0<span class=\"s4\"><b>NNUH Dementia\u00a0Fayre\u00a0on Thursday, 14<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s5\"><b><sup>th<\/sup><\/b><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><b> May between 10am and 4pm\u00a0in the central\u00a0East Atrium of the hospital<\/b><\/span><b>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>It\u2019s a lovely relaxed drop-in event and you can come at any time, alone or in gangs, to drink tea, eat cake, look at the stalls and provide gentle background music for other visitors.\u00a0 There&#8217;s a gorgeous piano and we&#8217;ll make sure there are songbooks&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Our first time at\u00a0<span class=\"s4\"><b>The Gallery will be on Tuesday, May 19th 11.30 -12.30<\/b><\/span><b>.<\/b>\u00a0 We&#8217;ll make sure there are people around at the door in case you&#8217;re in any doubt about where to come!<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>June <\/b><\/span><b>\u2013 3 sessions \u2013 one more than in the original letter<\/b><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><b>At The Gallery Tuesday, June 2<\/b><span class=\"s1\"><b><sup>nd<\/sup><\/b><\/span><b>, Tuesday, June 16<\/b><span class=\"s1\"><b><sup>th<\/sup><\/b><\/span><b> and Tuesday 23rrd at 11.30 -12.30<\/b><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">It\u2019ll be a bit of an adventure but worth it in the end for the posh new library space!
